We are a chavurah, which means “fellowship.” We call our congregation a chavurah based on the Hebrew word for friend. We purposely stay small, and think of ourselves as a friendship group or extended family — hence “ chavurah.” We welcome everyone into our “family.”

Donna Behm, Membership
Our pleasant, engaging, and informative Shabbat evening services, held the first Friday of the month, are short and sweet. The rabbi is very welcoming and knowledgeable on the many denominations of Judaism. He conducts services with commentary and humor, making it even more interesting.
Everyone has the opportunity to participate. You don’t need to know Hebrew or know it well, as we have transliteration handouts at every service. This is a nonaffiliated group that balances a mix of traditional liturgy and English.
Always keeping our friendly community together, our congregation provides services, free optional classes, activities and social gatherings.
Since B’nai Chai doesn’t have its own building, religious school, nor a building fund, the dues are particularly low. This better serves the needs of an older, retired couple such as ourselves.
